3 Wednesdays; November 30, December 7 & 14, 2022 from 4 - 7 pm.
LEVEL
Students should have basic experience on either a rigid heddle or shaft loom required. Students must come with their loom pre-warped.
DETAILS
This 3 session class is suitable for both RIGID HEDDLE weavers and SHAFT LOOM weavers and will explore the supplementary weft techniques of brocade and inlay. Both techniques are often seen in ethnic textiles and are a relatively simple way to add interest and complexity to your plain weave fabrics.
HOMEWORK
Students should come with a loom warped for a sampler 8-15” wide, threaded for plain weave in a monochromatic and somewhat neutral color with minimal texture. Background weft should be a similar weight as the warp and a smooth, untextured yarn. Supplementary wefts can be a wide variety of materials, fibers, textures, colors etc. Warp, weft, and supplementary weft materials not included in the class fee. instructor with.
Students may either bring their own assembled, ready to use loom, or rent/purchase one from the shop. Rentals and purchases must be arranged ahead of time so students can pre-warp their looms before class.
NOTE: We have a limited number of looms to rent, so please be sure to select the appropriate option at check out!! If you need to purchase a loom, please call or come in to the shop, or you may purchase online for pick up.
Ages: 18+
Skill Requirements: Basic weaving experience on a rigid heddle or shaft loom. Can warp your own loom.
