• 30 string or texsolv heddles that fit your loom (a fine cotton string; here's a great link to use for guidance: http://aspinnerweaver.blogspot.com/p/inkle-weaving-faqs-and-answers.html).

• Sharp Scissors
• Stick or belt shuttle (suggested length 6-8”)
• Note-taking materials. A tablet or a phone for pictures is okay.
• Photos (paper or digital) of landscapes for inspiration.
• Yarns in the colors of your photos, including textured, variegated, or novelty yarns that represent the colors/textures in your image. (Instructor will have some yarns available, but please bring what you have.)

DETAILS

Students will explore creative ways to use color with plain weave or simple pickup patterns to evoke landscapes. Be prepared to experiment with variegated yarns and novelty yarns, clasped warps, knotting, fringes, wrapping, slits, and other unusual techniques to add interest to the piece.

Annie MacHale, a weaver based in New Mexico, will be making a special trip to the studio to share her incredible inkle weaving knowledge! She has recently published two wonderful books on color and design for the inkle loom! Books will be available to purchase directly from her in class. Please bring cash or check.
