We are so excited to offer this special opportunity to explore Iceland's land and knitted textiles with Hélène Magnússon! We'll be immersed in the history and techniques of icelandic knitting, adventuring on moderate hikes, soaking in geothermal waters,  staying in quaint cottages, and visiting the sheep grazing amoung the countryside!

  • 3 nights at a guesthouse in Reykjavík, double rooms, dressed beds, shared facilities (bathroom and kitchen), breakfast included.

  • Optional: tips for food/lodging service. Tipping is not mandatory or expected for services. We will put together a tip for our guide at the end.

DAY 1 | Arrive, settle in & welcome! October 22
Knitters arrive to guesthouse (you're welcome to fly in earlier). Optional visit to the Handknitting Association of Iceland, full of lopi sweaters and wool. Welcome dinner with the tour leader (Alisha from Fiber Circle Studio) at a nearby restaurant.

DAY 2 | Farm guesthouse, Volcanic hike, Wool lovers adventure
We'll travel to our charming guesthouse, an isolated farm at the foot of a
mountain, with different animals, a family of elves and an outdoor hot tub.  En route we will enjoy a picnic lunch as well as stop at various places that are of interest to wool lovers! Nearing arrival, we'll set out on our first hike up a volcanic crater (easy to medium hike). Delicious dinner at our guesthouse!


DAY 3 | Knitting Workshop + Relaxation
We'll have our first knitting workshop with Hélène. The rest of the day is open to you! We invite you to explore the land, soak in the hot tub, knit solo or in company with others, etc. Lunch and dinner will be gourmet meals using ingredients from the farm! 


DAY 4 | Travel & Adventure
We'll have a busy day of travelling to our next destination with a few short hikes interspersed and lunch along the way. This guesthouse stay has stunning views of the sea!


DAY 5 | Traditions of Icelandic Knitting 
Today is all about knitting and we will get to visit the Textile Museum, Textile Center and Scouring Mill. Our scrumptious meals will be on premises from our local chef.


DAY 6 | Knitting Studio
We'll be returning to Reykjavík with more woolly stops on the way! We will
end our journey at Hélène’s knitting studio. Enjoy a free evening in the city.


DAY 7 | Hikes & Hot Springs
Time to explore the magical landscapes of steaming hot springs and bubbling solfatares. There'll be an opportunity to dip into a natural geothermal river! Followed up by a visit to a woolen circle, dyeing studio and minimill. Our journey will end with a visit to an authentic Icelandic Turf farm where we will enjoy our farewell dinner.

REGISTRATION FEES

There is a $1000 deposit due at the time of registration. Of that $1000 deposit, $500 in non-refundable. The balance is due no later than August 1, 2025.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Any cancellations (for any reason) made by participants will result in a non refundable amount of $500. Below is the breakdown of percentage refunded (less the non-refundable deposit) based on time cancelled.

  • 50% of tour price is refunded if cancelled before June 1, 2025
  • 25% of tour price is refunded if cancelled before August 1, 2025
  • There are no refunds if cancellations are made after August 1, 2025

EXTRA DETAILS

  • Group Video Call - We will have a group video call once registration has closed to welcome and virtually meet all the participants! This is a great time to ask any questions you may have, so please hold your list of any non-urgent questions!
  • Whats App Group - In order to have accessible communication, we will start a whats app group chat once we have all of our participants. This will be helpful before and during the trip. It's even great to stay in touch after! 
  • Group size - In an effort to keep the group intimate and ability to provide a quality experience we have a maximum of 12 participants. We need a minimum of 8 in order to run the trip.
  • Weather - The weather will be on the chilly side - expect fall in the North type of weather! It's always a good idea to dress in layers. This is the time to bring your warm woolens out!
  • Travel Insurance - It is highly recommended to get traveler's insurance for BOTH your airfare and trip to have yourself financially covered should any unexpected situations occur. We can not refund or credit due to changes of participant circumstances. Please see cancellation policy for more details.
  • Food - we will do our best to accommodate any food perferences or allergies, however some meals will be in folks homes, or in small restaurants where options are limited. If you have food specifications, we recommend bringing your own snacks for instances where we aren't able to accomodate. 
  • Getting from and to the airport - we will provide you with information for trusted transportation to and from the airport. The small fee will be at your own expense. 
  • Currency - we will have a list of recommended places to take out cash.
