Sewing with Stretch - Make a T-shirt Workshop | September 12 & 19, 2026

This is a 2-session in person workshop.

Class only: $200

Sewing Machine Rental: $15 for 2 sessions (available as add-on when class is added to cart)

LEVEL

Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate Sewists — basic sewing experience and the ability to sew small seam allowances are recommended.

MATERIALS (not included)

Please bring the following materials:

• Size 12 or 14 stretch or ballpoint needle
• 1–1.5 yards of knit fabric for the second session (will be discussed in Session 1)
• Matching 100% polyester thread

Materials included: Knit fabric swatches for the first session.

DETAILS

Ready to take the fear out of sewing stretchy fabrics? This two-session workshop is designed for adventurous beginners and intermediate sewists who want to confidently work with knit fabrics and expand their garment-making skills.

In the first session, students will explore a variety of knit fabrics, learning how to identify their properties, choose the right fabric for a project, and handle common challenges when sewing with knit fabrics. We’ll cover essential techniques, tools, and machine settings that make sewing with stretch fabrics smooth and frustration-free. We will practice sewing on different knit swatches using a regular sewing machine—no serger required.

In the second session, students will put their new skills into practice by sewing a basic t-shirt. From cutting to construction and finishing touches, students will gain hands-on experience working with knit fabric.

Ages: 18+
Skill Requirements: Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate Sewists - basic sewing experience and ability to sew small seam allowances recommended.
