MATERIALS

All materials are included:  a tabletop loom, natural and hand-dyed yarns, and a curated selection of dried stems. 

Students are encouraged to bring their own yarns if they want to use their scrap stash or have a very specific color palette in mind. Or if they have special dried botanicals that they'd like to weave into their piece (to commemorate an anniversary, memorial, etc.)

Bring the quiet beauty of autumn indoors with your own modern tapestry wall hanging

This fall, join us for a hands-on Botanical Weaving Workshop. You will learn to weave and arrange dried grasses, seed pods, and seasonal botanicals into a sculptural wall piece that feels fresh and organic and truly yours. We will start with the basics of tapestry weaving, including warping your loom, combining textured yarns, and building structure. Then we will layer in hand-harvested and naturally dyed materials to create pockets, loops, and tassels that cradle your botanicals.

By the end of our session, you will have:

• A complete modern tapestry featuring fall grasses and blooms
• The skills to warp a frame loom, mix fibers for visual interest, and integrate dried botanicals seamlessly
• A fresh design eye for color, texture, and negative space that adds warmth to your interior

All materials are provided: a tabletop loom, natural and hand-dyed yarns, and a curated selection of dried stems. Whether you are brand new to weaving or looking to expand your fiber toolkit, this workshop will spark your creativity and leave you with a unique, nature-inspired keepsake.

Bio: Jess Weisen is the founder of Quokka Co Illustration + Textile Design studio, where she blends playful artistry with sophisticated textile techniques. With two decades of creating art, print, and pattern for major home and apparel brands, she brings her passion for textile design to hands-on workshops. In this fall’s Botanical Weaving Workshop, Jess will guide you step by step to craft a modern tapestry filled with seasonal grasses and dried botanicals.

Skill Requirements: Basic tapestry weaving experience is helpful, but not required.
